Less than 5 months to go!

Less than 5 months to go!

I was looking at some footage from last season this week. One of my biggest goals last season was to work really hard on improving my carving technique. After the first trip I had gotten the feel of the toe side carve down pretty well but I kept losing my edge on my heel side. Unfortunately the season ended before I really nailed my technique but I think the important thing is that I set some goals and I worked toward them.

For the 2011-12 season I worked on my dynamic carving. I didn’t really nail that either so going into this next season my goal is going to be to get my heel side carve down then use that to do some sick dynamic carving :x:

We’re now less than 5 months away from the next season and I’ve started to hit the gym again. I started last season as fit as I’ve ever been and I think it helped out a lot with my riding. This season I hope to do the same and hit the slopes hard. Let’s do this!

2011-2012 Season

This was the first “dry” season that I’ve experienced since starting.  If you listened to everyone you would probably think that it didn’t snow at all but for a storm chaser, the snowboard season is always great.  Honestly, despite only being able to go up and ride under 20 days this season, I still had some of the best riding days EVER!  Being able to ride on my new favorite snowboard (Venture Storm) helps too!

I guess it’s safe to say that I’ve been extremely spoiled the last couple of seasons so even with the weak forecasts, it’s hard to get too disappointed.  Here is a video of one of the sickest trips from last season to help get everyone stoked for this season even if we aren’t going to see major pow.

My first couple of days were last weekend.  I recorded a little video of us riding some groomers so I’ll hopefully try to get an edit together.

It only took 5 months before I was able to get back on a snowboard and hit up Mammoth Mountain on opening weekend this November and as crazy as it is, it is only January and I already have half as many days ridden as I did my first season.  I don’t know if I am getting better every trip, but I am enjoying every trip I go on more and more.  This video is from my New Years Eve trip up to ride at June Mountain and Mammoth.  It snowed the last two days as we rode in what I would consider to be some of the best conditions I’ve ever experienced.  It might not have been as good as the 20:1 snow in December but most of the mountain was still closed last year and I don’t think my riding got anywhere near where it was in this video (perhaps it was the Venture Helix I am riding in the video that made all the difference though)

Still a lot of riding to do! :fy:
